REGINA LOUISE
*AUTHOR * SPEAKER *ADVOCATE
”Someone commented that there was not a dry eye in the house. You are powerful, dynamic, passionate and inclusive. Thank you for your gracious presence among us.”
--Deborah K. Yip, Director,
Center for Human Services,
University of California Davis
TRIUMPH OF THE SPIRIT is the only way to describe Regina Louise’s trials as an orphan discarded by most—if not all the adults in her life. Her life is one of a child who prevails against all odds, whose resilience shines through each attempt to break her, and whose indomitable will to not only survive, but to thrive, is a beacon to us all.
Hers is a tale of hope, adversity and hard-won victory. By the bootstraps, Regina Louise took a life that was out of control and going no where and gave it direction.
Subsequent to living in well over 30 foster homes, group homes and psychiatric facilities, and over coming dangerous withdrawals from inaccurately prescribed drugs, again Regina took charge of her life. After missing many years of formal education and labeled “below-average or marginal at best,” Regina’s optimism and perseverance has helped her become a clear definition of resilience. Last year Regina Louise spoke to well over 47,000 people. She keynoted more than 40 conferences and commencement ceremonies; strictly through word of mouth. Her mission is to speak in every state in an effort to give voice to the 500,000 children lost in the foster care system.
Her story has been featured on NPR’s All things Considered, The Tavis Smiley Show, The Pat Croce Show, and The CBS Early Show. Regina’s poignant story has also garnered nationwide attention. A recent Los Angeles Times front-page account of Regina’s life led to over 20 film offers. Jaffe/Braunstein Productions will develop the project for film. The stage adaptation made its world premier spring 2007 with the Sacramento Theatre Company under the direction of Peggy Shannon.
